Time Article:
In this article, they explained how it is very hard get employed by companies now as a college student because a degree is no longer what it used to be in society. More students are enrolling in college and more students are graduating with degrees so it is harder to get a job, because everyone is trying to get one as well. I understand that more students are enrolling into college, because this generation is being pushed more to further their education after high school. I don't think that it is fair for students have to work hard, graduate, earn their degree, fall into huge debts, but are not able to get a job in the real work. This makes me wonder what is real meaning of a degree besides it people just a piece of paper.
Should More People Skip College? :
I can see why employers would want a degree, because it is obvious that people with degrees often gets paid more for their occupation. My mom always tells me that she wish she would have finished school and do what she actually wanted to do, because she would be getting paid more. In my eyes, I think she is doing great without a degree as well as many other parents who I know that don't have a degree from college. I do not think that this is why people should skip college. Yes, you get a degree from college and yes, you learn plenty of educational things. But overall, college is just not about the education.
Plan B: Skip College :
In this article, the only thing that caught my eye in when they talked about blacks and Hispanics being the ones to drop out of college. It confuses me how people from out of the country and many Caucasian people never usually drop out and I think it is because they have more opportunity given to them. I never hear a Caucasian talking about leaving or dropping out of college because they are having financial problems. I have personally seen more than about 10-15 blacks and Hispanics leave Bloomsburg last semester, because they were financially having problems.
